Course description

In this English course I learned a lot. I learned how to write essays the perfect way and how to make the reader become interested in them. Process writing was the best for me because it was to pass on information about different subjects for example, how to make butter. These easy steps would help people and give them the right way in making what is needed. Practice tests were the best because it showed me how good am I and if I was improving, Mr. Gregory helped us a lot and made us better readers, writers, and listeners by teaching us different methods of doing that. I didn’t face any difficulties in process writing but I had trouble making my essay a perfect one. By the end of the semester I got it and now I’m able to do perfect essays. What really helped me in this course and made me successful is my teacher Mr. Gregory because he has helped me in every way possible and he is simply the best. Process and narration in my own opinion are almost the same because in narration I would talk about the steps in what happened to me which is almost like the process writing but the differences are, in narration I will be talking about myself while in process I will be talking about other stuff. I would use these styles of writing in telling people how these stuff work or how to do these things. I would love to thank you Mr. Gregory for this wonderful class, you’ve taught me a lot in these couple of months and I wish that you will continue passing on the information you have to other students and make men who you would be proud of. Thank you for every single thing you have taught me and I would never forget you because you gave me a valuable lesson in life where I would use it.

My story

Hi, my name is Abdullah Mohamed Al Fahim. I was born in July 25, 1988. I am 21 years old and enjoying my life. In my life I had good experiences and bad ones but I prefer to talk more about the good ones.
In 2007 I graduated from school and applied to different universities in America and applied to the American university of Sharjah. I got accepted from all universities but my family didn’t want me to travel because they thought I was young and they didn’t want me to live alone. I registered in the American University of Sharjah on January 2008 with my cousin Mohamed and we lived in Dubai. On the summer course I decided to stop studying there due to problems with the administration and the unfairness happening to students and joined HCT. I had the best summer vacation because I travelled to the best place on earth which is Germany. When I came back we started college and I was so comfortable with all my teachers. It was one of the best semesters I ever had because everything I want is here and my family is close by. They help me in everything and get me whatever I want which makes me happy.
I have several hobbies but I am in love with soccer and bowling. I joined the bowling league that happens every year and my team became the first and I was happy about that. Later I bought a jet ski and had fun in the last days of summer. In winter I bought a ATV which I use in sweihan every week when the winter comes.

similarities and differences between studying in the UAE and abroad

After students graduate from school in the UAE, they have the choice to study abroad or study in this country. There are a couple of similarities and differences between them which will be discussed in this essay.
Studying in the university is a hard choice because you should choose whether you want to study abroad or in the country. There are similarities between both the UAE and other countries. The colleges in both countries have different levels of degrees. The other similarity is in both countries there are different teachers who teach different subjects. Another similarity is that the colleges and universities have different students from all over the world.
There are so many differences between the two studying options where in the other countries the colleges and universities are mixed, having both boys and girls while in the UAE most colleges and universities are not mixed. When studying abroad you get homesick while when you study in the UAE your family is close by and there when you need them. The difference when studying abroad you will probably be lost and wont know where to go when driving unlike in the UAE you would not get lost because you lived all your life here.
In my opinion, it is better to study abroad to gain more experience about other countries and learn new languages and have an idea about their culture. Rather than staying in a country you lived your whole life in.

Making butter

Making butter by hand requires skill and patience. To make butter, the person should have time and should not try to finish fast so he/she can get the right taste. Following these steps will make you make the best homemade butter.
First, the most important thing to do is check the quality of the milk and how much fat it contains. After that, you should leave the milk to cool in the fridge in a closed container. Third, separate the cream from the milk by straining the milk from the cream. Forth, stir the cream to form the butter. After that, drain the buttermilk from the butter the same way you separated the cream or any other way. Fifth, put the butter in a jar and keep it. Then, the butter should be washed to remove any excess buttermilk from the butter. Seventh, when done salting, slice the butter and wrap it for storage. Finally, store the butter in the fridge to keep the butter edible and fresh.
Making butter is not as hard as it sounds but needs patience. When the butter is done as the given steps it will be very tasty and you will enjoy it.

How to write a summary paragraph

My essay will talk about summarizing a paragraph. Everyone thinks it’s really hard or has some difficulties in doing a summary of any paragraph, but here in this essay that includes good steps that will help everyone do the summary successfully and without having difficulties in doing the summary.
The first step is the student should choose a topic he/she wants to summarize. Second, the student should read it briefly before starting to summarize. Then he/she should brainstorm the ideas he/she have in mind. Then look at every sentence and see what is important. After that he/she should collect all the ideas and put them in a couple of sentences. Then he/she should read it and fix any mistakes. Finally he/she makes sure that every important thing is mentioned in the paragraph.
Summarizing a paragraph makes it easy on us (students) to focus in our studies and makes the studying easy to understand and to memorize also. Of course, by using these steps it will definitely make us all know how to summarize a paragraph.

How to give a successful oral presentation

Many people hesitate in oral presentations because they have fear of being watched by many people. In this essay I will give the correct ways in doing the oral presentation successfully.
First of all students must prepare and make notes before presenting and know exactly what they will talk about. Then while writing the notes, students must summarize the correct information and because it is an oral presentation, you must choose anything to talk about for example pictures, sources, or maps to make the presentation look better and professional. The next thing is before the presentation starts and before the audience come, the student must rehearse for the presentation and manage the time because time is the most important thing in a presentation. Finally, students can use flash cards to remember the points that they will talk about.
In this way, the oral presentation will be done successfully and both the student and the teacher will be satisfied with the result and the progress.

How to fail your portfolio

Failing a portfolio can be easy if the student doesn’t care about it. These steps show how the students would fail the portfolio. If the marks were not good he/she would probably have to repeat the course again.
If the student hasn’t been listening well in his/her classes he/she would not be able to do the portfolio correctly. The first thing is that the student would not open a blog by his/her name. The second thing is that he/she wouldn’t have all the assignments which are required ready to be posted. The third thing is that he/she will not choose the correct assignments needed to be pasted in the blog. The fourth thing is that he/she won’t check with the teacher if he/she did the correct things. The final step is that the student wouldn’t post the assignments in the right time which will make him/her lose the mark for this assignment.
If the student has done these things he/she would fail the portfolio and will not get a mark for that which it will affect his/her final mark. I wish every student the best with his/her work and wish they wouldn’t fail it.
